WaheGuru Ji Ka Khalsa, WaheGuru Ji Ki Fateh
Welcome to the website of the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib Walsall. When it opened,
Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib was the first Gurdwara in Walsall. The Gurdwara
(meaning the House of God) is the Sikh place of worship. The Guru Nanak Gurdwara
Sahib is open to everyone because in Sikhism everyone is equal. This equality is
shown by everyone sitting together in the Diwan hall and Langar hall. When
coming to the Gurdwara, please ensure a modest dress code is observed.
Additionally, everyone is required to take off their shoes upon entering the
Gurdwara and to keep their head covered at all times whilst in the Gurdwara.
We’ve listed some basic etiquette rules along with more information about the
Gurdwara.
Our vision is to make a positive impact upon the Sikh community in Walsall by
making the Gurdwara Sahib a focal point for the community where all individuals
and families can gather and flourish in Sikhism and seek Guru Ji’s blessings in
their lives. Guru Nanak Gurdwara is actively involved in bringing the Sikh
community together and striving to be not only a place of worship, but a place
where a Sikh’s social, cultural and ethnic needs may also be fulfilled.
We strongly believe that in order for any culture to maintain its identity, it
is important to impart the knowledge of our language and history to our
children. In keeping with this spirit, the Gurudwara Sahib holds Punjabi and
Gurmat classes every weekend. We strongly encourage all members of the
congregation to enrol their children in these classes.
These are some of the services and activities provided by the Gurdwara:
-
Religious Services
-
Music and Kirtan Classes
-
Punjabi Classes
-
Gurmat Classes
-
Computer Classes
As well as describing the various services and activities
provided by the Gurdwara Sahib, we’ve also included a description of various
features of the Gurdwara along with a brief introduction to Sikhism.
Individuals from all faiths and backgrounds are welcome and we hope you will
visit our friendly Gurdwara Sahib very soon.
